well, so much for my goal of blogging once a week this year. sometimes life gets in the way. and the past month and a half have been a little cray cray for this baldwin family!
first off i turned 30...say whaaa? not quite sure how that one crept up on me, but it did nonetheless. it was a great birthday filled with lots of love from a lot of people. bring it 30s.
in january cody applied for a teaching position at BYU-Hawaii. we hadn't heard anything back, so we figured they weren't going to offer him the position. well, the week of my birthday he got a call saying they wanted to fly him and myself down there for interviews, presentations, and lectures. it was a whirlwind trip, 5 days including travel, so we were not there long enough. but, it was amazing to see cody in this element. he is such a compassionate, caring person and has a desire to help those around him. and seeing him interact with these students was really amazing to me.
we did get a chance to see the temple
and to drive up the coast which was breathtaking. we wont hear until mid-june whether he gets the position or not. and i still don't think either of us know what we will do if we do get offered the position. but, i'm grateful for prayer, fasting and personal revelation that we might be able to receive the answers that we need for our little family.
meanwhile, gram made the trek to come watch the girls. i don't know how we can ever thank her enough! i'm so glad the girls had some special gram time before she and my dad leave for Brazil in ONE MONTH!! countdown mode is ON PEOPLE.
oh izzy, with your skinny little neck and fat cheeks.
and my sweet mae. i never know what position i will find her in when i go check on her. lately she has been sleeping on the very edge of the bed, which results in her falling of the bed more often than not.
sometimes these two can play well together. and sometimes they can't. izzy wants to do whatever mae does. and recently has stopped eating because if mae isn't sitting and eating than izzy doesn't want to be either.
we went down to houston to see cousins, and decided to make a day of it and go to the temple. well, mae wore the shorts i told her not to because they were small, and of COURSE she was uncomfortable when we were walking around, crying and lying on the ground so we had to go to target and get new shorts. then cody forgot his shoes, and left the car door open at the temple. haha. i feel like it's not a trip to the temple when things like this don't happen.
and mae passed out on the way home.
miss izz started walking finally! she's gotten a lot better, but is still a little bit shaky. she is MUCH happier now that she can walk and 'run' like her big sis. she's starting to say some words, night-night, hi, bye, baby, buh for bunny, wa-wa for water. she knows where her belly and her nose are.
she will actually sit and play in her high chair. where mae would not. she will even color in there.
they both colored by themselves for 20 minutes the other morning...holla!!
mae has had some interesting choices in attire lately. last week she just had an apron on, and had to walk daddy to the door wearing just that. she took all her clothes off and was wearing butterfly wings and i asked her why she took her clothes off "because butterflies don't wear clothes mom."
we made ANOTHER trip to houston last saturday for lucy's birthday and had a blast at the pool. mae passed out again on the way home...
everyday mae asks me "what are we doing fun today mom". um, wow. make your own fun kiddo, right? so i've tried to do a better job of crafts and fun little activities while izzy naps. this week we made a snake.
we also were able to meet up with a bunch of friends and go to the Zilker Botanical Gardens. they had a faerie trail that was full of little faerie houses that people have made and put on display. mae was in heaven. especially when she realized she got to keep the cute wings my friend got for all the girls!
even izzy got a pair of wings. she wasn't exactly sure what to do with them.
wow, crazy 2 months! i'm excited summer is here. i'm ready to have some fun days at the pool, and for our trip to utah in a few weeks.
